Additions

My mother and I made an addition to the family on Saturday. We’d been talking about getting another cat for a few months now, so that we would have two again, after Suki passed away last year. So, on Saturday, we went to the Humane Society shelter here in town and saw who was there.

So, I would like to welcome Millie to the family.

She’s approximately two and a half years old, found stray on someone’s doorstep in March with a kitten in tow. She’s still a little bald on her stomach from where she had surgery, but the hair will grow back soon enough.

Already, she’s giving Smokey a run for his money. We have them separated right now, Millie is in our den, with a window screen in the doorway so that they can see and smell each other but not actually interact. Smokey was brought into the den for a little while today and it’s pretty much agreed at this point that Millie is the one going to be in charge. Of course, only time will tell, and we’ll have to see how everything turns out.

On the crafting front, I finished one sleeve of my Weasley sweater and am four rows in on the second. I ended up making the cuff a little shorter simply because the sleeves were getting ridiculously long (and I have small hands), but I tracked the number of rows so can recreate it easily on the second sleeve.

There’s hasn’t been much progress on Maeva, or anything else besides the sweater really.

did however, pull out my crochet hook and make a few granny squares today.

Part C of the Summer Solstice Mystery KAL 2012 comes out tomorrow (or late tonight, depending), and I’ll be working on that over the next few days.

For those of you gearing up to celebrate Independence Day, I hope you have a happy and safe holiday and I’ll see you on Wednesday!

PS: This is my 100th blog post!

  1. Aww what a lovely cat! My cat was a rescued one who was found under a bush with five kittens. I’ll never understand how anyone could be cruel to these animals. She’s absolutely adorable! I hope she settles in quickly!

    1. I think she’s settle in quite quickly. She managed to escape last night and I woke up with her next to me on the bed, and then she went after the yarn I was winding this morning. 🙂
